Denver based artist Joseph Martinez works with matches boxes as his favourite media for oil paintings. The richness of details in these tiny pieces are unbelievable.
Sketchcamp Grand Rapids 2013
Today I attended Sketchcamp Grand Rapids. It was a great learning experience with workshops and talks from Peiter Buick, Molly Jaques, Jeff Reuschel, David Fik, Veronica Erb, and Chad Martin. I would say the best message I took away from the day, that all of the speakers talked about, was to TAKE RISKS. Sketching is all about getting your ideas down and you won’t become better at sketching unless you practice. I wasn’t able to attend her workshop but from her 15-minute presentation on sketchnoting, Veronica Erb inspired me to take a risk and try it! Above is my first attempt at sketchnoting, that I completed while listening to a talk by Chad Martin. I think I need to work on more on the balance between words and illustrations but hey I won’t get better unless I practice. Overall a great conference!
World Vision 30 Hour Famine posted this today and I just had to share…

Pixar Movies as Infographics [vulture/via]
Always interesting and usually a little humorous to compare and dissect disney/pixar movies. Infographics are not the best i’ve seen but the content is good.
